How Can Mouth Ulcers Be Treated?

I have ulcers all over my tongue. My doctor told me it will go away in about two weeks, and no real cause has been found, though it is suspected to be a virus. Because of this condition (tongue is in pain and overly sensitive), saliva has been building up in my mouth too much, so I swallowed them whenever it fills up my mouth, but I feel kind of nauseous now. Is this because I m swallowing too much saliva? Can swallowing too much saliva be bad for you?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
Tongue ulcer could be due to upset in digestion/constipation/antibiotics taken for any infectuon... all of these kill the lactobacilli ,responsible for B complex deficiency &mouth ulcers . Sharp edges of tooth causing constant irritation of tongue or oral cavity.Psychological stress causes mouth ulcrrs.
You need to get examined for pin pointing the cause... &get specifically treated.
Apart from this you can take a dose of purgative to clear bowels/Apply boroglycerine /Tess ointment to the ulcer./ do hot saline gargles/Take tab. Folic acid over the counter ,twice a day
Consult doctor if no relief.... to have cause specific medication.

Thanks.
