How Can Mosquito Bites On The Knees Be Treated?

my daughter appears to have been bitten by mosquitoes, she took a field trip to the land fill yesterday and woke up this morning with large welts. Today after she came home from school, her welts are even bigger, hard and hot to the touch. One even looks purple in color and her knee is sore to bend. I believe she is having a reaction but curious if I can treat at home or if I should go to the doctor?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The swelling (increase in size) and increased warmth are part of the body's inflammatory response to the bite.
The hardness of the area is also part of the body's reaction.

She can use anti inflammatory medication (children's advil for example) and antihistamines (benadryl, claritine, allegra, zyrtec).
These medications should be given regularly for 24 to 48 hours.

If there is no improvement or any worsening then she should be seen.

I hope this helps
