Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a diabetic for the past 15 years and on insulain for the past 10 years. Blood sugar level is under control as I am getting check up every 6 months. recently, I was asked to check for Thyroid ( as I has constipation and indigestion problem for some time) about 3 months back and it was around 35. Hence, I was prescribed to take Thyronorm tab of 100 mg dose in empty stomach and now, I got TSH tested two days back. It has come down to 0.17. I did not have any side effects on taking thyroid and there was perceptible improvement in digestion and constipation problem. Now that the Thyroid level has gone below the normal range, what dosage of thyronorm tablet should I take it or stop taking the tablets??? Thanks and regards
Hi, Thanks for writing your query. After reading your post, I would advise that you should reduce the dosage of your medicine from 100 to 75 and repeat the TSH levels after 6 weeks. Further decrease in dosage can be planned, if needed. You should first consult your treating doctor for any change in dose of medicine. I hope this is is helpful to you. Regards. Thanks.
