How Can Liver Cirrhosis Be Treated?

Hi, I have stage 4 liver disease. what is the expectancy of my life at this point. I got it from blood transfusion in 1982 so I have had it for 35 years not knowing it. I am going to a dr. on Wednesday but was curious if I should think about putting my affairs in order.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,my name is dr.Dorina Gurabardhi.I understand your concern.
No treatment will cure cirrhosis or repair scarring in the liver that has already occurred. But treatment can sometimes prevent or delay further liver damage. Treatment involves lifestyle changes, medicines, and regular doctor visits.
Some advices that I can give to you are:
-do not consume alcohol or caffeine
-low sodium diet
-Talk to your doctor about all of the medicines you take, including nonprescription drugs such as acetaminophen
-Eat a limited amount of protein. Too much protein can cause toxins to build up.
-Avoid sedative medicines, such as sleeping pills, antianxiety medicines, and narcotics.
Hope my answer was helpful. If you have any other question Ill be glad to help.
Regards,
dr.Dorina Gurabardhi
