Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I have read your question and here is my advice. Unfortunately chemotherapy has not been very promising in treating HCC, however Sorafenib has significant effect on prolonging life, it was found to prolong life by 3 to 4 months, still it is not a cure of this cancer, as neither TACE, nor Sorafenib cures the cancer, its still there so there is no question of the recurrence, (as tumour is already there) so the idea is that Sorafenib can have benefit in prolonging life by a few months, but if the side effects are very much, then it can be stopped with the advice of your doctor, or he can prescribe more medicine to control the symptoms, so discuss with it.

It's unfortunate to say that the fate of disease is grim at the end , and aim is to give maximum comfort to the pt.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
