MY husband has heptocellular liver cancer. Was on nexavar has been off of it for 6 weeks now. Opting for quality over quantity. He does have a great deal of acites fluid. Maybe 15 - 20 pounds of it. When is the right time to drain it and what are the dangers

You can drain the ascitic fluid when he develops symptoms, like breathlessness and abdominal discomfort. You can drain upto one liter per day. More than that may cause complications. It’s a safe procedure but it has to be done under aseptic precaution otherwise there will be chances for infection.
