How Can Kidney Stones Be Removed?

Hello Doctor. I had a calcium oxalate kidney stone 2 years ago and successfully passed it. Last week, during my annual physical, the urinalysis showed trace blood and occasional oxalate. Is another stone with its associated emergency room visit imminent?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.
Thanks for putting up your query over here.
Visit to emergency depends upon your symptoms.May I know what symptoms you have now that made you to do urinanalysis test?
There are chances you may get the renal stones problem again.
If you get any symptom related to it like pain in abdomen or back, burning micturation, following measures will help,
-Anti spasmodics like dicyclomine or meftal spas will help relieve the pain.
-Drink plenty of water.Minimum 8-10 glasses of water is needed.
-Cranberry juice or cital syrul for 3 days may help.
If still the symptoms continue beyond 3 days, visit to urologist will be needed.
USG abdo will be required.
Antibiotics like ciprofloxacin will be given for 7-10 days.
Invasive procedure options depends upon the size;number and location of stone in USG report as well as upon status of ureter and kidney.
Hope this information helps.
Thanks.
