A bilateral knee replacement was preformed 10-13. I have not experienced ANY discomfort or problems with either knee until 8 months ago, when a rash developed. I went to a dermatologist. Floucinonide was prescribed, which I have used every day as prescribed. Now a rash has developed on the adjacent leg, same location. Legs appear to be slightly discolored in itchy area and small lumps are forming along with itching. These rashes are 2 inches below each incision. I am not tired nor do my knees or muscles hurt. Could I have allergy to titanium? I have another dermatology appointment scheduled next month. Pls respond. Thank you
Hi. As per your case history you are having allergic dermatitis. My treatment advice is - 1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like fusiderm-b cream twice daily on it. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine for itching. 4. Other treatment options are oral steroid like prednisone or betamethasone taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
