How Can Irritable Bowel Syndrome Be Treated?

I seem to have symptoms eg liquid sepage and soft sticky stools which need wiping away and look as though they are full of small seeds. I also have no feeling of actually passing anything. I thought I needed Imodium so I took some before realising that it was probably the opposite that I needed. I am now taking moviolas (4 sachets 2 at a time) am I now doing the correct thing as I cannot get an appointment with my gp for another week. Thank you. I should say I am 70 years old.
