How Can Irregular Periods Be Treated?

Hi doctor. I am Priya. I have a menstrual problem from starting of menarche. But this time I missed my periods for 6 months. I am not married. Even my blood reports(harmomal tests)are normal. But in my ultrasound -pelvis... the right ovary is bulky with dominent follicle measures 4.28* 2.18cm. When I consulted with doctor on 28 January 2018.. Dr. prescribed me to take Deviry for 5 days (2 tablets *day*night*) and after getting periods... take femilon from the first day of periods till 3 months. But without eating deviry surprisingly I got my periods on 31 January 2018... Now I m confused that whether I start femilon or eat deviry for 5 days! Please help me... please tell what I will do now?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Irregular period could be due to hormonal imbalance because of changing of birth control pill. I would suggest you to wait for period. If period will delay by more than 14 days from expected period date, consult the gynecologist for detailed examination.

For investigations of irregular menstruations, you may be asked for hormonal work up like FSH, LH, Estrogen, Progesterone, Prolactin, et cetera.

Before hormonal checkup, you will be examined internally to find any organic disease like infection or cyst-Ultrasonography also will reveal a good amount of information regarding your internal organs (and even pregnancy also).

Avoid stress, take healthy diet, drink plenty of water and do regular exercise.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Iven Romic Rommstein
