How Can Inter Menstrual Bleeding Be Treated?

Hi, I started to take noriday a month and a half ago and I am now on my 3rd period. I have always had trouble with irregular periods and find it very distressing. Will it help it I take more than one a day? I m only 23 and it s effecting my social life. Michelle

Hi, I think you should go for evaluation first. Get a thyroid profile and prolactin level and a ultrasound done to see uterus and ovaries to find out the cause of irregular periods. It can be due to some thyroid disorder or polycystic ovarian syndrome. If anything is abnormal, it can be treated. You may need some hormonal treatment like a combination of oestrogen and progesterone for inducing periods to treat that. Noriday can also lead to breakthrough bleeding as it is a low dose progestin and it has side effects of irregular bleeding. Discuss with your doctor regarding this. Hope it helps.
