How Can Insomnia Be Treated While Suffering From Depression And Anxiety?
I need a psychiatric doc.my son has an episode of depression ,anxiety.we went to our primary doc. He gave him a medicine(escitalopram 10mg 1tab p.o q day )he feels better .but the problem he could not sleep in the night. He stay up awake , on daytime he slept. He s sch. Is affected . Main concern to sleep in the night .ty

your son's insomnia is the part of his depression. during initial stage of treatment people may require sedating and sleeping agent like benzodiazepine. as escitalopram takes some time to show its full effect e.g around 2 weeks . once depression gets better completely he will no longer need benzodiazepines ,which can be tapered off and stopped. you can request your psychiatrist for same. hope this will help you
