Andrew asks, After at least two weeks research of Inguinal Hernia symptoms, signs, Procrastion, I finally got diagnosed officially at local Hospital E.R. From small bump right side groin area to current wrapping around mid section with moderate pain, bulging, knowing its worst by the day. Was diagnosed, discharged, and instructed to contact a doctor to schedule a conference first, being 04/05/2018, from 03/15/2018. My question is - How Long will i be safe in this condition while someone decides to help with my problem? What s the Risk of intestinal strangulation during this decision making process? Hi,

Inguinal hernias are divided in to direct or indirect. Direct inguinal hernia is an inguinal hernia that usually occurs in men over the age of 40. It is due to weakened abdominal muscles, straining, and weight gain.

This can occur in women also, but men are 8 to 10 times more likely to be affected by an inguinal hernia than women. For this hernia, special hernia belt is needed and if you observe pain or discoloration at the area, please consult your doctor immediately.

Indirect hernia through the inguinal canal is observed to be more common in children. But you need to consult your doctor, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
