Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am trying to manage an inguinal hernia caused by chronic cough from bronchial asthma. I am addressing that with new med(ad air to Brel) noticed improvement during day and when exercise.after few days but know it takes longer for full effects. My question is what are tips for keeping hernia asymptomatic and is there a best way to sleep. I usually sleep face down but think maybe best to lie on back and let hernia recede. Advice on all above would be appreciated. I am 60, very active PE teacher who bikes and uses bands and weights as well as functional training. Thanks
I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about your hernia.
As you had a history of inguinal hernia, and you have done many non surgical methods to get relief but I think there is no improvement. As there is better improvement if you develope a better abdominal muscles mass though in your case as it seems to me does not effect much as you already have a athletic life style.
My advise will be to go surgery because it is a day care surgery and does not take much time to get your regular job. You can sleep as you feel comfortable, it will not affect much to hernia.
Hope my answer will help you and you can write us back if you have any further query.
Regards Dr Muzaffer Hussain Parray.
