General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

His condition sounds very concerning to me, with possible untreated schizophrenia, depression, suicidal ideation, and drug abuse.

I would take his statements about wanting to kill himself and/or others seriously and seek help urgently.

The first thing I would address is his statements of wanting to commit suicide, and make sure he is safe before addressing the other issues.

I think the best thing you can do is talk to a professional at the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (at 1-800-273-8255) and get advice about what is the best thing to do for him now.

I hope that helps and that you can get help for your son. Many people have been able to get through very difficult times like this and find a reason to live, and I hope your son becomes one of those people.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
