How Can Infection On The Toenail Be Treated?

I ve hurt my big right toenail twice, nail never fell off or turned black or blue. Last injury I dropped a wooden toy block on cuticle of nail. Had a small bump, little pain, eventually bump grew up too a point where I could clip it off but nail did not grow to its usual nail length. Now when it grows to that point, beyond that point it turns white more towards the left side. The right side is a normal nail color. Under The left/white side nail, the nail is detached there s no chunky white stuff growing under, nothing at all its just not attached to skin like the right side is. It gets sore if I let it grow longer more comfortable if it s shorter length!! Please help!!!!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

Your symptoms seem to be related to a nail infection.

I suggest using antibiotic cream for local application such as Neosporin cream.

I also suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the symptoms.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
