How Can Hypertension Be Treated?

Last year my husband took this medicine for high blood pressure but it was running about $135. for 3 months supply. We asked his dr for something less expensive even though benacar was working. So he prescribed losartan. My husband has been flutcuating between dirreaa and constipation doe a month. So the dr prescribed a generic of benacar(olmesartan) but it cost 294. for 3 months and now they are saying the regular benacar is well over 300. Can this be possible to go up that much since Dec of 2016?

Hi,

Hypertension medicine should be taken life long. You are right, the cost is quite an important consideration. We understand this. There are a lot of drugs, other than Olmesartan, that may work well for control of BP, which may be a lot cheaper.

Don't stop it, rather go to your doctor and tell them your concerns. I am sure they will come up with a better alternative.3

Hope I have answered your question. I will be glad to answer any further question about this.
