How Can Hyperpigmentation On The Face Be Treated?

hello dr. i am a 24 year old female... i have used facial hair bleaching cream many times before.... but this time i added more of the activator powder... and left it for longer duration... after washing my face was quite red, itchy ,dull and darkened ..... i applied aloe vera immediately...it did help in soothing the redness but the next day i saw my face had become dark than my natural skin color... i had a very fair and glowing complexion.. but my one mistake ruined everything... it has been 10 days but my face is still dark...i i want my natural skin color back.... please help.... will this darkness be permanent???? should i use kojic acid???

Hi,

It looks like post inflammatory hyperpigmentation due to irritation and inflammation of the skin caused by the bleaching agent. It is always advisable to use the bleachers after following instructions written on the leaflet of the package and should not exceed the concentration and duration. For now you should keep patience as it can take some days or weeks for the skin color to improve. You can continue to massage with Aloevera gel.

Do cool compresses over the face if there is still irritation. Yes you can apply Kojic acid containing creams. You should limit sun exposure to face and always apply sunscreen lotion before going out. Scrub your face twice a week with a face scrub.

Hope I have answered your query.
