How Can Histoplasmosis Be Treated?

My sister in Kentucky has been diagnosed with histoplasmosis. Dr. said it was probably caused when she was younger and around chickens, cleaning out chicken house and gathering eggs for our grandmother. She is 72 yrs old. From what I have read, you will have symptoms in 7 to 10 days. She has a spot on her lung. Suppose to have surgery in about a week. I am concerned she may not have right diagnosis.

Hi,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.

I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about your patient.

As per your history the diagnosis was Mallory on the basis of clinical examination but it may not be true, though in histopasmosis there are certain history and silent features but the diaginomust be accompanied with certain investigations.

There are skin sensitivity test done in histopasmosis which though may be effective only in screenicases but must be done before.

Methods of histopasmosis fungal culture, Antigen sensitivity, radiography diagnosis or even the most sensitive one the histopasmosis of the fungus.

Hope my answer will help you and you can visit us back if you have any questions further.

Regards
Dr Muzaffer Hussain Parray.
