How Can High Fever Along With Nose Congestion Be Treated?

My adult daughter seems to have some kind of virus. Her temp has been 103.5, she is lethargic, not hungry, chilled, stuffy nose, and a headache. My concern is that she is diabetic. Since she is not hugry, I am not giving her her insulin or metformin tonight. I am wondering if that is OK? Also, does she need to go to urgent care because I have heard that a fever above 102 in adults can lead to a stroke.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms of your daughter seem to be related to a viral infection.

I recommend using anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen.

I also recommend giving her liquids and rest.

The insulin should be given as prescribed by the doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
