How Can High Fever Along With Appetite Loss Be Treated?

My friend has been running fever off and on since Sunday. Sometimes it is as high as 102.5 then it will drop back down to almost normal. He says he has a little soreness on his left abdomen area. He has been burping a lot. He has little or no appetite. He has been drinking a lot of water and Gatorade. I took him to a walk in clinic on Monday night and was told that it looked like he had a viral infection and they said it should run it s course in a couple of days but it just seems not to be getting any better. What should I do?

Hi

Possible that it may be a viral fever or malaria fever. Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is. Left flank/abdomen pain may be due to left renal caliculi or colitis or ureteric caliculitis etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Use tablet paracetamol thrice a day for five days. Drink plenty of liquids. If symptoms Does not improve go ahead and do complete blood picture, urine examination, peripheral smear and WIDAL. Then consult your physician, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query.
