How Can High Blood Pressure Be Treated?

I have been trying to lower my blood pressure for about 2 months with no success, even with the medication prescribed by my doctor, such a amlodipine, doxazosin, and losartan. My levels are now normally around 160 over 80. Maybe this medication is not strong enough to lower my levels. What can I do?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As you are having uncontrolled hypertension that fails to come down with usual, anti hypertensives additional drugs and investigations are needed. You can do an ultrasound scan to look for any kidney related problems and adrenal gland tumor which can cause uncontrolled hypertension. You can add Hydrochlorthiazide after discussing with your physician as it can help in uncontrolled hypertension. If the blood pressure is still high drugs like Clonidine or Arkamin may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
