How Can Hiccups Caused After Excessive Vomiting Be Treated?
Hi .. 1 week back my father got hospitalised due to excessive vomitting n weakness where he could not even balance. On tge 2nd day in hospital he could start digesting solid n gas also passed but since then he is suffering from continuous hiccups since then. Its been a week or even more..but his hiccups are still not cured. He had baclofen and other medicines but its not getting controlled. Please tell me how to get him rid off his hiccups??

As per my clinical experience, the cause of hiccough is a major factor depicting why that is not under control with casual medications. As there may be central nervous system issue affecting vagus nerve and stomach motility or else. General guidelines can be figured out as below:
- Allow him sips of liquids in sessions.
- Intake of anti emetic as ondancetron on empty stomach.
- Addition of proton pump inhibitors as pantoprazole or omeprazole also to be considered on empty stomach.
- Ambulation of body is vital thing to keep stomach and intestine in best functioning.
- Avoid to give spices or non veg stuffs.
Still if you can provide with the list of medications of current use, I can still guide further in best possible manner.
