How Can Headaches And Shortness Of Breath In A Heart Patient Be Treated?

My uncle is 84 and has a carotid artery that is 89% blockage. His other carotid artery was also blocked and he had a stent placed with no side effects. It was 75% block. He is experiencing some systems, light headeness, and shortness of breath at times. The question is what treatment should he have at this time. He is on appropriate medication by his cardiologist for this condition. Should he have surgery or stent again? And what is his risk if he has either one or none? Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Apart from his present treatment schedule, good control of blood pressure &sublingual nitroglycerine would help his present symptoms.

An expert heart surgeon's opinion about subjecting him to surgery is essential for the decision of stent/heart surgery (which would definitely be helpful... in case he tolerates it physically.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
