Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
A while back in 2016 my left ear was itchy so i cleaned it with a q tip. Since then I have had very mild hearing in that ear, everything is very low to almost nothing. I went to the health department about, they said they saw a scar or something. I have no insurance to see a ear doctor right now. Will my hearing ever return to normal?
Well it depends on the cause of hearing loss.If the hearing loss occurred due to any damage to eardrum or any nerve related problem then the severity of the cause will decide the prognosis.
But if there are other causes like excessive wax buildup, or pushing wax deeper or any foreign body inside ear like cotton from q tip then cleaning the ear can help in improvement...
So a clinical examination and investigation like x ray can be done for confirmation.
Hope I have answered your query. Please let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora,
Dentist
