How Can Gallstones Be Removed?

hi! my mother has been detected with gall bladder stone. Gall bladder measures at 4.2 x 2.8 cm with multiple shadowing stones, the largest of which measures 8.9mm and the smallest measures 6.0mm. Her doctor recommends her to take a medicine(rowachol 3x a day). Is there any option or any herbal to substitute her medicine. Or can you give me any suggestions about this? Thank you!

Hello,

Gallstone management most of the time is surgical however, some studies show that drugs like Rowachol can help dissolve some kind of stones but still data is not enough to develop a strong relationship.

In your case you can ask your mother to try this medicine for some time so that your stones may dissolve but do keep in mind that there is a possibility that stones may not dissolve.

If your mother has pain in right upper abdomen she must need to consult a doctor but if there are no symptoms then you may not need to undergo extensive management of gallbladder stones otherwise planning for surgery is the mainstay of management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Maryum
