How Can Flaking Up Of Skin On The Nose Be Treated?

On external part of the nasal passage had flaking skin. I used Mupirocin Crem USP 2% .Now the outside of the skin in order, but now I have a problem with the internal part of the nostril. It appears that this infection spread inside the nostrils. A similar problem I had a few years ago and I used a liquid. Please, what might that be liquid nose. Sincerely, Zvonko

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear Patient,

I read your query carefully and I do understand your concern.

I would recommend that you use petroleum jelly 5 times a day to the internal part when you see the flaky thing.
Also you may spry aloe very with almond oil on the area, or just coconut oil.
Steam bowl, allowing warm steam to enter to your nose may be a good remedy also.

If it is painful please use aspirin or ibuprofen such an inflammatory drug.

I do suggest NOT to use chemical spray with antihistamines or corticosteroids, because in this case they may damage your flaked nose more.

Please drink a lot of juices and take car to eat a healthy diet.

All the best,
Dr. Eni
