How Can Fever In A Child Be Treated?

My 12 years old daughter has a fever for more than 6 days now. Our physician is treating her with an antibiotic Extracef and a paracetamol Analgesic. Also Vitamin z is being given to her. She seems to be quite weakened as she is not eating well. Her fever goes down for some time and then come up again. She is a very active person (Judo player). What I must do to get her well back?

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have symptoms of fever which seems to be due to bacterial infection and could be due to poor and compromised immunity of body.

Need not to panic about it. I would suggest you to

1) Avoid giving child spicy and rough food. Take diet rich in soft food.

2) Maintain oral hygiene and sip on lukewarm water.

3) In case of fever you can take Calpol or paracetamol for relief and take anti inflammatory drugs such as Levocetirizine.

4) Hot milk with a pinch of turmeric boiled with it at bed time for 2-3 days as it has antimicrobial action.

If symptoms keeps on persisting visit pediatrician once and get it examined. Get blood tests done if required and start treatment accordingly.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
