How Can Fever Be Treated?

my grandmother is 93 years old. She has a 3 degree above normal fever and no chills. she was sick at her stomach this morning and could not eat or drink. later this morning she vomited and is feeling better and is eating and drinking. but she has a fever and has had 1 325mg aspirin. 2 hours later a 500mg Acetaminophen. and now another 325mg aspirin. she still has a fever. 1 aspirin always worked in the past. Pulse oxygen level keeps dropping below 90 without oxygen. any help with this strange fever would be great.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The symptoms seem to be related to an infection which cause the fever.

Some suggestions that I may give to you are:

-Give anti-inflammatory medication every 4-6 hours

-Give liquids

-Let her rest

If the fever does not get better, she probably may need prescribed antibiotics. You should discuss with your doctor about this treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
