How Can Fever Along With Cold And Cough In An Infant Be Treated?

My 5 year old had a fever, running nose and cough and the doctor said she had tonsilitis. She's been unable to breathe with a nose for over 5 days now and her breathe smells. The mucus from her nose smells a lot and she was placed on acyclovir 100mg every 4hours. She's only taken it for less than 48hours but she's still breathing with her mouth and her nose is not dry. Please I'm worried. When do I expect improvement at least in her breathing?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that your kid is suffering from cold that is a

viral infection and taking alone Acyclovir will not provide immediate relief..

I would suggest you that along with Acyclovir, you should make her

gargling with a warm saline solution that is by mixing 1 teaspoon salt in a

glass of water and warm it to make a luke warm solution, give her a

combination of decongestant like Phenylephrine, mucolytic like Ambroxol

and anti allergic levocetrizine and another combination of Acetaminophen

and Ibuprofen, do steam inhalations, avoid spicy and chilled foods, sip on

warm water throughout the day..

Give her appropriate rest..
