Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mom was just daignosed with facial basal cell carcinoma recently . Presently she had some of her suspected moles excised , and more to go. Is this the only treatment or should there be more! The surgeon thinks I also may succumb to this type of cancer. Now my son is worried that this maybe genetic, is that so?
I think the only treatment for basal cell carcinoma is excision to healthy boundaries. No further treatments are needed. It is not proved to have inherited components. It is caused mostly by long exposure to the sun and is characteristic for old age.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Olgeta Xhufka
