How Can Diarrhea Be Treated?

My 82 year old mother has been having diarrhea on and off for the past week . We ve tried Immodium and it doesn t seem to be helping anymore. Her doctors office is closed until Tuesday so I can t get any recommendations from him. What other OTC medications should we try?

Hello,my name is dr.Dorina Gurabardhi.I understand your concern.
-Over-the-counter options include Imodium (loperamide) and Pepto-Bismol or Kaopectate (bismuth subsalicylate)
-Take frequent, small sips of water or a rehydration drink and small bites of salty crackers.
-Begin eating mild foods the next day or sooner, depending on how you feel.
-You can take probiotics
