How Can Depression, Anxiety And Suicidal Tendencies Be Dealt With?

I live in Bangalore. I'm 39, male and work in an MNC. I am suffering from

Depression for many years, probably since 1991 but definitely noticed it and sought help in 1996 from AIIMS, Delhi. Besides feeling sad and very low ALL the time, I feel so weak and exhausted ALL the time. I am also suffering from very poor memory and high anxiety. I'm taking Bupron150 off and on although I'm supposed to take it everyday. My poor memory, postponing required actions and practically no ability to organize has made me look very inefficient and unreliable at work. I think about suicide but won't do it since I have 2 very small children but this mental and physical suffering is unbearable now. Pls help if you can.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for asking from HCM

You have depressive symptoms since many years. The symptoms like poor memory, anxiety, tiredness, weakness etc are persistent since years. You are taking Bupropion 150 off and on and not regularly. I would advise you to visit your psychiatrist again for reevaluation.

Depression is a mood disorder and proper compliance to treatment is must to get proper improvement and remission of symptoms. So I would advise you to take the doses of Bupropion regularly. For moderate to severe depression drugs like Mirtazapine, Sertraline, Fluoxetine etc are used. Augmentation agents like lithium, lamotrigine etc are used in recurrent depression. Visit a psychiatrist for proper prescription.

Thanks, hope this helps you.
