How Can Depression And Bipolar Disorder Be Treated?

My boyfriend is 19 and dossnt take any medication he says he has bipolar and depression and i dont know. he doesnt go to doctors and i dont know what to do. ive put down in my notes the dates everytime he has a breakdown hes sad and starts crying. its about the time of the month as the times before what do i do? is it depression or bipolar or both?
