How Can Cramps In The Lower Legs Be Treated?

I have cramps in lower legs at night after working outside all day on the farm and walking around the grounds (age=64) - I ve read that supplemental magnesium can help quiet and prevent cramps - is it worth trying? I try to stay hydrated thruout the day, have power ade and lots of water, and daily bananas among other fruits.

Hi,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.

I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about your muscle spasm and cramps.

As per your history it seems to me the cause is too much strain on your lower muscles (leg muscles). During work you need to take some rest in between too.
Keep yourself hydrated as much as possible. If the temperature is too low keep some extra cloths on.

Yes the supplements of calcium and magnesium can be effective in muscle cramps, you can also take foods with good amount of potassium too like banana.

Hope my answer will help you and you can write us back if you feel any further assistance is needed.

Regards
Dr Muzaffer Hussain Parray.
