Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Sir, I m Akshay from Karnal Haryana (INDIA) and I am 19 years old.I m suffering from mucus from the past 1-1.5 years or so. I had consulted many doctors about my problem. Even 5-6 X-rays of my chest is conducted but I m not seeing any promotion in my health. Nd 1 important thing is that I had Tuberculosis around 1 year ago. But having consulted with doctors they said that it is all right now. Occasionally cough also occurs. So please suggest me about my health. I shall be very thankful to you....
As you said you have a history of pulmonary tuberculosis and you have taken treatment for it as it is treatable when appropriate medicines as per doctor’s advice are taken. These days there is increase in drug resistence seen so make sure you have taken all the medicines well and followed the treatment plan well. As doctors have cleared that you are free of tuberculosis now, so do not worry.
The problem of cough can be due to infection or allergy to some pollutant, dust as we know these days pollution is increasing rapidly. To fight this having a strong immunity is very important and along with it taking all protective measures to stay away from dust, pollution is important as well because merely using cough syrups every time is not going to help on long run.
My advice to you is to see a respiratory medicine doctor regarding the issue with all your history and physical examination he will be able to guide you appropriately on further management as you recently have recovered from pulmonary TB, so building better immunity is necessary.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
