Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been coughing up a clear, greasy flem from my throat but sometimes chunks of blood, too. From my throat, not my stomach. I had surgery 20 years ago for an esophageal web. They said it could grow back. I quit smoking back then, but still use tobacco pouches in my cheeks. I also have just been diagnosed with prostate cancer- looking at surgery. I am guessing that my continued use of snus has caused more trouble with my throat. Thank you for your diagnosis and advice. Kind of late for me to change the past.
Unfortunately , as you stated, the continued use of the tobacco would have caused a problem with your throat and unfortunately there is a link with prostate cancer as well.
There are a lot of effective treatments for prostate cancer so it is quite possible that you may respond and do well.
You may need to ask your doctor to also assess the mouth and throat. Chronic cough can sometimes be due to benign causes such as post nasal drip, GERD and asthma but more serious causes would need to be ruled out
I hope this helps
