How Can Cough And Chest Congestion In A Child Be Treated?
My Son is 5 years old and has cough problems, In the last 10 months had to be hospitalized twice due to severe congestion even after giving levolin .31 and buedecort 0.5 through nebulizer. In the recent episode doctor gave 1.25 levolin initially 2 hrly and gradually 6 hrly which has stopped now. However doctor has suggested foracort 200 1 dose twice a day along with Montair LC 6ml daily. Is these dose high for a 5 year old? Also will inhaler become a life long thing for him?
Hello there. I have read through your question and I can understand your concern. The dose prescribed by your physician is correct according to your child's age. If your child is suffering from frequent episodes of cough and difficulty in breathing then most likely he is suffering from allergic asthma. The duration and severity of the episode s will decide the course of his treatment. He may be required to be put on a Beta agonist inhaler for immediate relief. You can discuss it further with your physician. If hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing healthcare magic.
