How Can Cold And Cough In A Child Be Treated?
My child age is 14 years suffering from cough and cold since one month, but not recovered.. In the night s he suddenly facing cough problem with breathing problem.for 1 minute with different sound in breathing and recovers. Doctor after 1 month advised to take steroid tablet omnacortil 10mg for 3 days in the night and next 3 days 5 mg. Is this steroids safe to use by children? Thanq

I am sorry for the health problems our child is going through.
Cough and cold for one month not totally recovered, all this is suggestive your child might have gone through pneumonia. Only complications like pneumonia are causing cough and cold lasting for that long.
Antibiotics, mucolytics, antihistaminics and sometimes bronchodilatators like Ventolin can be used to treat cough and related infection.
Steroids are potent anti-inflammatory meds that are used only in extreme cases when these other meds fail to treat current respiratory infection.
Please follow up with your child's doctor regularly. If not betterment, should ask to run Chest X-ray to rule out other pulmonary pathologies.
Multivitamin supplementation can be used to strengthen your child's immune system.
