Hi, thanks for asking from HCM for your health related doubts

Lack of sleep causes a lot of psychological problems and results in increased risk of depression, anxiety disorder etc. You have problem of sleep since 5 years. The main issue is while you go to the bed. Excessive worries or ruminations prevent the sleep. This is occurring because of early insomnia and should be properly evaluated.

To get good sleep I'd advise you to improve your sleep hygiene:

- Fix your time to go to sleep.

- Avoid tea, coffee or carbonated drinks in evening.

- Avoid heavy exercise in evening but brisk walk will help.

- Avoid day time naps.

- Fix your schedule and don't watch TV or read books while on bed.

- Try not to sleep again and again, if you fail to get sleep with in 15 minutes of going to bed, get up and try to distract yourself.

- Bathing in evening with lukewarm water will help in sound sleep.

If sleep issues persist even after improving Sleep Hygiene then consult a psychiatrist.

Hypnotic drugs like Benzodiazepines like Lorazepam, Etizolam, Clonazepam can help in sleep onset and your sleep will improve. Other drugs like TCAs like Amitriptyline or antidepressants like Mirtazapine can also be used. Please visit a psychiatrist for prescription of these drugs.
