How Can Chronic Cough And Chest Infection Be Treated?

I had a sinus infection in early February and took a full course of ZPak. On March 1st I had a sudden onset of a chest infection and am on the 2nd course of another antibiotic that I can t remember the name, its a small orange pill. My cough is not going away and now the right side of my head (sinus, lymph nodes, and my lungs) still bother me. The cough, when it happens is very intense and I lose my breath, the first week of these symptoms a month ago I coughed so hard I blacked out on my feet? Should I go to Urgent Care or wait a week to see my primary care Dr?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to the health care magic

You are having cough since long time..

So now rather then taking antibiotic from doctor your work up needs to be done in detail like as follow (By nearby physician or pulmonologoist)
-Auscultation
-Chest x ray
-Spirometry only if needed
-CBC
-sputum examination and if needed culture

According to cause further specific treatment given (And for deciding cause above investigation will be done)

If x ray shows consolidation then it might be from pneumonia like condition

If no infection present and if CBC shows eosinophila then allergic inflammation will be the cause

So with keeping all this in mind consult nearby physician or pulmonologoist for examination and Auscultation first and accordingly suitable investigation planned as I discussed above

Hope your concern solved

Take care
