How Can Cataract Be Treated?

I recently got new glasses. The doctor at Lens Crafters said that I had the beginnings of a Cataract in my right eye and I should contact a surgeon for corrective surgery. I'd like to find a doctor with lots of experience who is not to far from where I live (Northville, MI 48167). Can you recommend an expert in this field who can guarantee success. My concern is that I have good vision in the affected eye (my right eye) and virtually no vision in my left eye ( I cannot see the large "E" on the eye chart). If something goes wrong with the operation on the right eye which diminishes my sight in that eye, I would be unable to rely on the left eye for sight.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
It appears from your description that you could be developing senile cataract.
It can be cured only by means of surgery.
The opacified lens would be removed by means of surgery and an artificial lens would be put in its place. The cost of surgery generally depends on the nature of lens you choose.
Kindly consult Opthalmologist in this regard for necessary evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
I find this answer helpful
