Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I fell a coupe weeks ago and bruised my ribs- Had xrays and saw the doctor so I have been diagnosed. I kind of overdid it with activity at the begining of the week and they are bothering me again, mostly in the late afternoon/evening. Is heat or ice best at this point
Hi, thanks for your question in HCM. Sorry to hear about the incident. I hope your X- Ray chest are normal and no fracture has been seen. Things to do to reduce the bruise are : Applying ice pack over the area. Take analgesic and antiinflammatory tablets like acetaminophen, Ibuprofen. Avoid lifting heavy weight, twisting etc. You can also apply analgesic spray but do not massage the area. Usually bruises take couple of weeks to subside. Hope the above informations are helpful to you. Get well soon.
