How Can Breathing Difficulty And Chest Congestion Be Treated?

Thank you. I have been having breathing issues lately. This year i was hospitalized 3 times for bronchitis. Those symptoms were relieved somewhat then something has returned. I have a lot of mucus that is either clear but now is milky and thick and sometimes there is a bit of green. I use a nebulizer a couple of times a day to keep clear lungs. The mucus is thick and causes some wheezing along with the coughing it up. I am on prescription zyrtex and singular. I can not seem to get rid of this mucus that makes me cough so much. How can I dry this stuff up and not have any breathing issues again?

Hello,
It depends upon what your diagnosis is. If you have asthma, which is what it sounds like you need to be on both albuterol and inhaled steroid inhalers.
If you are only on albuterol as needed, that is not treating the whole problem. Inhaled steroids can help dry up the mucus. There are other inhalers called anticholinergic inhales like ipratropium that may also help.
You need pulmonary function testing to determine the diagnosis to get the best treatment.
