Hi,

If the blood pressure was normal at the time, then the extra medication may not have been needed.

Atenolol is not used as commonly now to treat high blood pressure though it is an okay medication. You may need additional meds to help keep your blood pressure normal. Some persons need a small dose of diuretic to get rid of excess salt.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
