How Can Atrial Tachycardia And High Blood Pressure After A Aortic Valve Replacement Be Managed?

My husband is one week post aortic valve replacement for a bicuspid valve. He is really healthy..was not on any medications before surgery, worked out regularly non smoker etc. He did great post op...discharged 4 days post op. is on coumadin for mechanical valve and a beta blocker 25mg. about 36 hours ago...he started having atrial tachycardia and high blood pressure...136/107 heart rate 110-150. I called his doctor yesterday am...they increased his beta blocker. His blood pressure is better...116/77 but heart rate has not dropped below 110. It is making him feel bad and anxious. He is only taking tylenol once a day for pain. I read that a non steroidal anti inflammatory could help...so I just gave him 600 mg of ibuprofen. I just want to make sure there isn t anything else I need or can do to help him. Do we need to have an EKG done...or just wait for heart to be less irritated as it heals...

Hello,

No , you can’t relax. NSAI won’t help. Show me the latest ECG. Any Atrial Premature beats? I can solve his problem.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
