How Can Atrial Fibrillation Be Prevented While Suffering From PAC?

I am 67, and have premature atrial complexes that surfaced after a cold and coughing. Went to emergency and that is what they said they were. I am understanding that PAC burden can lead to atrial fibrillations. Should I take a NOAC? Should I get an ablation on these complexes?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your cardiologist would be the best one to answer these questions. You do not need a NOAC unless you have atrial fibrillation. There is no way that we know of to prevent atrial fibrillation. Only the cardiologist could advise you about the need for an ablation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
