How Can Ataxic Gait Along With Blurred Vision And Vertigo Be Treated?

Well my Father was diagnosed with Gait ataxia but the doctors do not know what is causing it. he was negative for all kinds of diseases that was tested through spinal fluid. genetic testing was also all negative. Can you or someone else help. Extreme weakness, blurred vision, speech problem, and vertigo.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

1. Normal pressure hydrocephalus.
2. spinocerebellar ataxia.
3. posterior circulation stroke.
4. Labyrinthine problems.
5.Alzhemers disease.
6. Basal ganglia lesions. etc.

Until complete examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. It may need combined treatment of Cardiologist/ENT specialist/neurophysician. Check for MRI brain, MRA, pet scan, ecg ,echo cardiogram, spine MRI , vestibular function tests etc. Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
