How Can An Insect Bite Be Treated?

My granddaughter is allergic top mosquito bites, but she got a bit in the yard about 40 min ago that s more reaction than usual. I m wondering if something else bit her? There s a raised white round-sh patch on her elbow a bit smaller than a dime. Slight redness surrounds it, like inflammation, but not a definitive ring of red. There s no sign of a head of the bite, or any spot inside the white. Should I be concerned about this big reaction. It s unusually large. Could have been a mosquito, but could have been and ant, spider?

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query your grand daughter have symptoms of insect bite which seems to be due to allergic inflammation due to the toxin injected under the skin. Need not to worry.

I would suggest you to

- Clean the area with antiseptic solution and then apply antiseptic ointment over it.

- Maintain proper hygiene and clean area and avoid any scratching to prevent infection.

- Take anti allergics like Levocetrizine and along with it take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen.

If condition does not become better visit general physician once and get complete examination done and start treatment accordingly.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
