How Can An Infected Toe Be Treated?

my toe has been infected for two weeks...During that time went to podiatrist and he prescribed clindamycin and I took it for a week..My toe was a little better but now that I completed the dosage it is going back to being red at the top and swollen...I think also the next toe might be developing the same infection..What is it and how do I get rid of this.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your description it seems like paronychia, does the infection confined to side of your toe or nail bed. If it is paronychia, better to drain the pis for complete cure. As of now do saline soakings and take antibiotics like Ampiclox, which is more effective. Apply topical antibiotics like Mupirocin.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
